Barely 18 hours after arriving in Lhasa, just enough time to recover,

we got in a Land Cruiser provided by the Tibetan Plateau Research Institute and headed up to OUMORS,

the research station which is near Everest Base Camp.

This is a lot farther than it appears on a map.
